MCC San Diego does not run on the county bail schedule. The steps below are what determines release here.
Identify the system
We confirm from the booking whether the hold is county, federal, or immigration. This single question decides everything that follows.
Federal appearance
Federal detainees appear before a magistrate judge, who sets release conditions — not a dollar figure from a county schedule.
No county bond applies
A bail bond written against the San Diego County schedule cannot release someone held here, and we will not take a premium pretending otherwise.
Parallel county charges
If a county case is also filed, we post that bond and tell you plainly that it resolves only the county side.
How To Post Bail At MCC San Diego
Premium on a California bail bond is set by the rate filed with the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800, the starting figure comes from the San Diego County Superior Court felony and misdemeanor bail schedule, and review or reduction runs under Penal Code §1270.1.
We do not post county bail bonds at MCC San Diego, because county bail bonds do not work there. That is worth saying in plain language rather than burying it.
What we can do is read the booking, tell you which system has custody, and point you to the right one. If a county charge exists alongside it, we write that bond at 10% premium with 1% down on approved credit.
