Why the courthouse being closed does not matter
Each county's superior court judges adopt a uniform bail schedule annually. The jail applies that schedule at booking, so the bail amount exists before anyone sees a judge. A bond posted Saturday night produces a release Saturday night, with the arraignment following on the next court day.
What is different on a weekend
- Volume. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest booking windows of the week, which lengthens the discharge queue.
- No bail reduction motions until court reopens — the schedule amount is the number until a judge revisits it.
- Holiday weekends can push arraignment out an extra day, which is exactly when posting matters most.

The exceptions that do wait for a judge
- No-bail holds and probation or parole holds.
- Charges where the schedule does not permit release without review.
- Cases where the prosecution seeks increased bail or a §1275.1 source-of-funds hearing.
